WordPress stores content and settings in its database, while themes, plugins and uploads live in files. A complete backup needs both, taken close enough together to form a usable set.
Use a trusted backup tool or your host’s backup service, and check what it actually includes. Keep another copy away from the hosting account so a hosting problem does not remove your only recovery option.
Restore a copy into a separate test environment and check key pages, images, forms and logins. Choose a backup schedule that reflects how much new content or order data you can afford to lose.
